Local Man Charged With Murder Of 2 Inwood Women: Police

On Tuesday morning, two women were found stabbed to death in an Inwood apartment. A man has now been charged with murder, police said.

INWOOD, NY — Police have arrested 27-year-old Kelvin Valdez and charged the Upper Manhattan resident with murder and criminal possession of a weapon in relation to the death of two women found in an Inwood apartment on Tuesday morning.

Officers arrived at the 9 Sherman Avenue apartment at 9:47 a.m. on Tuesday to find two women unconscious and unresponsive, both with multiple stab wounds to their neck and chest, according to police.

Police have now identified those women as 37-year-old Jaslynn Pena and 51-year-old Belky Cruz — both residents of the Inwood building.

Valdez is also a resident of a different building on Sherman Avenue in Inwood, according to police.

Police have not released a motive for the attack.
