Man Killed Outside Associated Supermarket in Washington Heights Identified [UPDATE]

Responding officers found the victim unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot ​wound to his torso, police said.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — [Updated at 2:39 p.m. on Sunday.] Police have released the identity of a man killed Saturday night in Washington Heights.

Lester Mcleod, 31, of the Bronx, was shot outside Associated Supermarket at 15904 Harlem River Drive at 6:23 p.m, according to the NYPD. Responding officers found the victim unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to his torso, police said. EMS transported the man to Harlem Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made, police said.

There was another shooting in the area on August 29 when a 26-year-old man in Inwood was shot in the head and right arm. The 26-year-old man remained in critical condition as of Saturday night, police told Patch.

This shooting occurred in the 32nd precinct. As of Aug. 28, murder has increased 50 percent in the 32nd precinct compared to this time last year with three murders so far in 2016 as opposed to two in 2015, according to police.
