Man Pistol-Whipped And Robbed In Washington Heights: Police

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A 35-year-old man was getting into his car in Washington Heights in May when two men exited a nearby SUV and rushed him. The pair pulled out guns, demanded the man's things, and pistol-whipped him in the head, according to police.

The attack and robbery took place on May 12 in front of 1045 Saint Nicholas Avenue, between West 162nd and 163rd Streets. The NYPD this week released photos of one of the men wanted in connection with the violent interaction.

The attackers went on to steal the man's chain necklace, pendant, and iPhone Pro Max 12 — valued collectively at $2,800, according to police.

The two attackers then fled on foot, but not before one of them fired a shot into the door of a Jeep SUV that happened to be going by at the time, police said. He got into the car from the passenger seat as the driver jumped out of his seat and escaped without injury, according to police.

The attacker wasn't able to drive the car and ended up taking off on foot again, police added.

The other attacker fled on foot in the opposite direction.

The 35-year-old who was hit on the head with the gun was taken to a hospital in stable condition for a small laceration to his face and head, police said.
