New Chipotle Opening On 181st Street In The Heights This Summer

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A new Chipotle is opening its doors sometime this summer in Washington Heights at 181st Street, a spokeswoman from the Mexican fast-food company confirmed to Patch on Tuesday.

The exact location will be 4250 Broadway, but the spokeswoman didn't give a more specific opening date timeline than "the summer."

An icon for the soon arriving 181st Street outpost recently appeared on the Chipotle location map.

"We're excited to bring our real ingredients to the Washington Heights community via a new Chipotle restaurant at 4250 Broadway," a spokeswoman from Chipotle told Patch.

The 4250 Broadway address is currently home to fish market, however, there is also a vacant store directly next to it.

The new Washington Heights Chiptole will join two other nearby locations, one at 4009 Broadway near West 169th Street, and one at 3781 Broadway near West 157th Street.

Chipotles in Washington Heights haven't got the best press as of late after a gnawing tale of a rat infestation shutting down the 4009 Broadway outpost with multiple employees getting bitten became citywide news.
