Sleeping Man Kicked in Face, Robbed on 1 Train in Hudson Heights

Two suspects repeatedly kicked a man in the face after he fell asleep on a 1 train, and stole his cell phone.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — Two suspects repeatedly kicked a man in the face and then stole his cell phone after he fell asleep on a 1 train Tuesday morning, police said.

The 19-year-old man fell asleep on a northbound 1 train at 4:20 a.m. when he was viciously attacked by two men, according to police. The sleeping victim was repeatedly kicked and punched in the face before the suspects tore his cell phone out of his hand and fled the 181st Street station.

The victim was taken to Colombia Presbyterian Hospital in stable condition, police said.

The 181st Street station is just two blocks from the 34th Police Precinct headquarters.

The NYPD says the first suspect is black, 20 to 25 years old and last seen wearing a white baseball hat, black T-shirt, camouflage shorts and a red backpack. The other suspect is black, 20 to 25 years old and was last seen wearing a two-toned gray long-sleeve shirt, jeans and white sneakers.
