Task Force On Noise To Host Uptown Candidate Forum: What To Know

The WaHi-Inwood Task Force On Noise released a plan recently to combat noise in Upper Manhattan. On May 24, it will host a candidate forum.

UPPER MANHATTAN, NY — In the same month that the WaHi-Inwood Task Force On Noise released a battle plan of 29 recommendations to help alleviate uptown noise issues expected for summer 2021 and beyond, the group is now set to host an Upper Manhattan candidate forum about quality of life issues in the community.

On May 24, the task force will host the Uptown Candidates Forum on Quality of Life Issues. You can register here for the event kicking off at 6:30 p.m.

The forum will include candidates for New York City Council District 7 and 10, the Manhattan Borough President's Office, and the Manhattan District Attorney position. The forum will also feature a question and answer session.

"Quality of life issues such as unreasonable noise have overwhelmed uptown communities such as Washington Heights and Inwood," wrote the task force in the event's page for the forum. "Last year and beyond have brought with it issues such as daily fireworks activity, dirt bike and other vehicle racing, large outdoor parties in residential areas, and noise from some restaurants participating in the Open Restaurants Program."

The task force did not specify which candidates would be in attendance.
