The MTA announced earlier this year that they would be making quick fixes to signals along the A, C and E lines and starting to prepare for a sweeping $245.8-million signal upgrade on the three lines.

A weekend shutdown of the trains in March was for both the quick fixes to signals and preparations for the larger upgrade.
