Tribeca Film Festival's Opening Night Is Coming To Wash Heights
The United Palace Theater in Washington Heights will show "In The Heights" on the first night of the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — The Tribeca Film Festival is doing things a little differently in 2021 by using multiple venues all across the city for screenings of this year's films. The festival will kick off on June 9 with a world premiere screening of "In the Heights" at the United Palace Theater in Washington Heights and across the other outdoor festival venues simultaneously.
The United Palace Theater is located at 4140 Broadway, in between West 175th and 176th Streets.
The Jon Chu-directed screen adaptation of the Tony Award-winning Broadway show, created and produced by Washington Height's own Lin-Manuel Miranda, has generated a tremendous amount of buzz and excitement — nowhere more than in Upper Manhattan.

"Our founding mission is even more relevant today and we wanted to ensure that we could reach all corners of New York," said Tribeca Festival Co-Founder and CEO Jane Rosenthal in a news release. "Tribeca was started to bring people together, and that's what we aim to do again this year, to connect communities across all five boroughs and share our festival experience, safely, while supporting local businesses."
The 2021 festival will take place across 12 days and incorporate multiple locations with 250-plus screenings, talks, and performances. The festival expects to host up to 100,000 guests at its various outdoor screening venues.
