From Observing the holidays to a Visit From a Goat, the Grand Avenue Facility Had it All

On Wednesday, Dec 18, the joyous holiday season blanketed University Center on Grand Avenue in the Bronx as staff had their fully catered staff holiday celebration where they celebrated with their residents. Filled with everything from Hanukkah potato latkes, a Jewish Hanukkah tradition, to homemade Christmas chocolate chip cookies, blue velvet cakes and a variety pies including pumpkin and apple, music played and everyone sang their favorite traditional Christmas songs include “Sleigh Ride”, “Walking in a Winter Wonderland” and “Let It Snow, Let It Snow”.

What a lovely time everyone had this year,” said Tonkya DeHavia, Recreation Director. “I just love doing such happy evets this time of year. It’s such a warm feeling during such cold days.”

The next day on the 19th, Linda Cole of Kaseys Cast-A-Ways, a bait and tackle fun farm in Upstate New York, came to entertain the residents with a baby goat named “Bandana”.

Finally on Saturday Dec 21st, University Center welcomed the Nazarene Worship Center from Mount Vernon, NY, as they spread love, joy and, happiness to the residents through praising, singing and the sharing of gifts.
