WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY – Newly-released data is revealing a grim picture of COVID-19-related deaths in nursing home patients in New York City, including at a facility in Washington Heights.

The New York Department of Health has updated it chart of statewide nursing home COVID-19-related deaths to include data through Feb. 4, and added a column that identifies deaths that occurred outside of the nursing home facilities. The deaths that occurred in hospitals had previously been included in the total statewide tally.

At Isabella Geriatric Center in Washington Heights, the data shows there were 34 coronavirus-related deaths in nursing home patients identified as happening "out of facility," which means the patients died at hospitals.
