Upper Manhattan Gets A Second Chance At NYC Restaurant Week
NYC Restaurant Week has been extended through the end of February, and a new signup window will last until Feb. 2.
UPPER MANHATTAN, NY — Uptown Manhattan has a second chance at getting on the NYC Restaurant Week menu.
NYC & Company announced Friday that Restaurant Week To Go is being extended through Feb. 28, and restaurant owners can again register to participate through 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 2.
More than 570 eateries across the five boroughs signed up for the first week of the initiative, giving New Yorkers a chance to taste the city's restaurant at a discounted price. Data from past years show that eateries make added profit during the period due to the additional advertisement even with the discounted prices.

However, despite over 400 restaurants from Manhattan dominating the list of participating eateries, not a single one of them was from Washington Heights or Inwood.
For comparison, 37 restaurants from Harlem and East Harlem are participating, and 41 restaurants on the Upper West Side are taking part in the first week.

NYC + Company has also waived participation fees for the program this year.
“Due to the high consumer demand for NYC Restaurant Week To Go, we have decided to extend the program for an additional four weeks so that even more restaurants citywide can feed New Yorkers hungry for good food and eager to support their neighborhood eateries," Fred Dixon, President and CEO of NYC & Company, said in a news release.
The initial omission of Upper Manhattan from the week left some local restaurant owners feeling left out.
"Members of the uptown restaurant community, particularly Latino restaurant owners, did not participate in restaurant week largely because they were unaware of the events and how to participate," said Jeff Garcia, president of the New York State Latino Restaurant Bar & Lounge Association.
If you know of any restaurant owners in Inwood or Washington Heights that might be interested in participating in one of the February Restaurant Weeks, here is the signup form — Restaurant Week Sign Up.
