Aziz Ansari's NYC Comeback Show Sells Out In Just 2 Hours
Monday's West Village show is the comedian's first in the city since allegations of sexual misconduct were made against him.

WEST VILLAGE, NY — Comedian Aziz Ansari is performing in the West Village on Monday night. The "Master of None" star will return to the Comedy Cellar's Village Underground location on West 3rd St. at 10 p.m.
Tickets sold out in just two hours on Monday morning.
Ansari's gig is his first official New York City show since highly-controversial allegations of sexual misconduct were made against him on the website babe.net. A 23-year-old woman described a date with the comedian, in which she said Ansari repeatedly pressured the woman to have sex.

Ansari tweeted about the "small last minute gig" on Feb. 5.
"It's a small venue and may sell out quickly," Ansari said in an email alert Sunday evening.

Ansari's show, a part of his ongoing "Road to Nowhere" stand-up tour, will be a "phone-free experience" using "Yondr" phone pouches, which restrict guests from using their phone during the performance.
"Anyone seen using a cellphone during the performance will be escorted out of the venue," according to the event's notice on Comedy Cellar's website.

At a Connecticut show last October, the New Yorker called Ansari's stand-up comeback as a "cry against extreme wokeness." Last week, The Cut wrote about a Massachusetts show where Ansari's bit hinged on so-called "cancel culture" and when old tweets are aired to criticize celebrities' past comments, referencing Kevin Hart's resurfaced homophobic tweets forcing him to step down from hosting the Oscars.
"I'm not defending Kevin, but we're ALL shitty people, we ALL get better," said Ansari, according to The Cut.
