The city marshal's office did not immediately have details about the reasons behind the bar's closure. Typically, city marshals are enlisted to enforce civil court orders.

Patch was unable to contact the managers or owners of Boots & Saddle on Wednesday.

The gay nightclub moved to Seventh Avenue S from its longtime home on Christopher Street in 2015. The bar had hosted regular drag shows for 40 years before a rent increase forced it to move, co-owner Rob Ziegler told DNAinfo in 2014.

The bar re-opened in the basement space on the Seventh Avenue S in 2015, taking over the property that was previously occupied by the Actors Playhouse.
