The Limited Engagement Returns To New York City’s Stonewall Inn

Twisted Sister Lady Bunny returns to downtown NYC this May in Trans-Jester, her raucous stage act that Michael Musto called, “the most screamingly gratifying, crap-your-pants funny show in town” and Huffington Post declared “a gag-worthy show you can't miss". Trans-Jester first debuted at The Stonewall Inn last spring, playing to sold-out crowds, all there to experience Lady Bunny and her zany blend of bawdy, irreverent comedy. Celebrities as diverse as Andy Cohen, Susan Sarandon, Rupert Everett, Anohni and James Cameron Mitchell were among those in the crowd, cheering as the sewer-mouthed diva delivered her one-of-a-kind, insightful social commentary. This year’s show promises to be even more rowdy with new gags, including a witheringly funny and timely parody of Beauty And The Beast and Bunny’s unique thoughts on Caitlyn Jenner. Trans-Jester runs every Tuesday in May at 7pm. Tickets are available online at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2904486 or by calling 212-488-2705.

In Trans-Jester, Bunny delivers plenty of side-splitting Laugh-In style zingers. She has also widened her repertoire to include parodies which re-work selections from Adele (who, in an interview with Vogue Magazine, named Bunny as an inspiration for her look), Rent and Bruno Mars. In an unabashedly vulgar version of “Uptown Funk,” Bunny asks pertinent questions about cultural appropriation prior to declaring her undying love for black cock.

In a world that's gone mad with PC word police, Bunny frames everything in the context of "What can we still laugh at?" Says Bunny, “We're so politically correct that we've made Dick Van Dyke change his name to Penis Van Lesbian.” Bunny seldom delves into actual politics since one train-wreck is enough, but she fearlessly takes on gender politics.

The evening resurrects songs by country star Lynn Anderson, Millie Jackson and even an original tune that pokes fun at the dating life of (whatever sex it is you want to call this “Lady"). In her long career in nightclubs, Bunny has rarely incorporated show tunes into her act, but in Trans-Jester, she performs a scandalous Caitlyn Jenner version of “My Favorite Things” and then brings it all home with a show-stopping finale featuring two classics from Gypsy and Follies.

Trans-Jester began its run at Stonewall Inn on April 13, 2016. It was originally intended to run for one month but was extended through the summer. It then moved to London’s Soho Theatre for a two-week run that sold out ten days before it opened. In their review of the show, Gay Times Magazine compared Bunny to Don Rickles and Lisa Lampanelli, adding that Bunny is “a true drag icon who helps make this grey, murky world a little more colourful.” Bunny heads back to London for three more weeks in June.

But New York gets her first! Stonewall Inn is an intimate venue, so reserve now to guarantee your seat. The tickets are a low $24.99 − as cheap as Bunny’s humor. Cash-only tickets may be available at the door after online sales close nightly at 5:00PM. 21 + up and there is a two-drink minimum. There is no drink maximum. A very good thing as Bunny's singing will drive anyone to drink!

Please note: This show is raunchy. It’s not politically correct by definition − that's the whole point. So if that's not your cup of tea, you should honestly skip Trans-Jester. Or prepare to grab a drink and laugh, cheer and possibly even be challenged by a salty old kook who isn't afraid to express herself from a viewpoint that is often unique.
