Cab Driver Sexually Assaults Women In West Village, NYPD Says

In one attack, the man is accused of giving a passenger alcohol and locking the cab doors before assaulting her.

WEST VILLAGE, NY – A cab driver accused of plying a female passenger with alcohol before locking her in his yellow taxi and sexually assaulting her may have more victims than police know of.

The NYPD released a photo of Muhammad Wasim, 36, in the hopes that anybody attacked by him will come forward.

The man was arrested on Oct. 27 and accused of an Oct. 11 attack on a 28-year-old woman. Police said he picked her up at Houston and Thompson streets at 12.15 a.m., gave her alcohol, locked the doors and attacked her.

Days later, on Oct. 20, the same man is suspected of grabbing a 36-year-old woman walking on West 12th Street at 4:30 a.m., throwing her to the ground and sexually assaulting her, police said.

Police are asking any other victims to call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
