The East and West Village have had more restaurant closings than any other NYC neighborhood during the COVID-19 pandemic, a new report says.

VILLAGE, NY — Few businesses have struggled more in New York City during the coronavirus pandemic than the restaurant industry, but a new report shows that eateries in the East and West Village had a particularly tough year.

The Infatuation, a New York-based restaurant recommendation website, recently released a report detailing which New York City neighborhoods have had the most permanent restaurant closings since the pandemic started last March.

The East Village saw by far the most restaurant closings of any neighborhood in the five boroughs, according to the report. At least 55 restaurants have permanently closed in the East Village since the pandemic started, wrote the author of the Infatuation report.
