Greenwich Village Fire Breaks Out In 10-Story Building: FDNY

GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY — A fire broke out on University Place at a 10-story building Wednesday afternoon, an FDNY spokesman said.

A call came in about 4:35 p.m. for a blaze on the fourth floor at 99 University Place, between 11th and 12th streets, the spokesman said.

About an hour later, the blaze was under control, but left two people with minor, non-life-threatening injuries, FDNY said.

Emergency medical personnel took the two people to Mount Sinai Beth Israel, the spokesman said.

The emergency saw 106 firefighters and medical services personnel respond, according to the FDNY.

Assemblywoman Deborah Glick wrote on Twitter, "thanks for a swift response," to the FDNY.
