Gourmet Brooklyn Pizzeria Emily Opens In West Village

The village location joins others in Clinton Hill and Williamsburg.

WEST VILLAGE, NEW YORK — Clinton Hill's gourmet pizza favorite Emily is now serving up slices in the West Village.

The restaurant, which also has a Williamsburg outpost, opened at 35 Downing Street this week. For now, it's only open between 5 p.m. and 11 p.m., but the hours will be extended in the coming weeks, according to the restaurant.

The menu, however, looks a bit different than its two other locations. First, the bad news – the Detroit-style pie that became a staple of the Williamsburg location, Emily Squared, is not served in the West Village. But the addition of a new grandma-style pie – a square Sicilian pizza – should make up for that, owners hope. The company's signature pizzas and burgers remain as highlights of the menu.

There are two kinds of burgers at the new location, the Emmy Burger, with American cheese, and The Lammy, a lamb burger with aïoli, pakora onion rings, papadums and green papaya.

The restaurant's take-out and delivery service will be available soon, owners said.

The location used to be home to Blue Ribbon Bakery, which closed in November 2016 after serving West Villagers for 20 years.
