Greenwich Village Hospital Billed $3K+ For COVID-19 Tests: Report
One family accrued $39,314 in charges through 12 COVID-19 tests taken at the Lenox Hill Hospital, according to The New York Times.

GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY — Lenox Hill Hospital in Greenwich Village repeatedly charged patients more than $3,000 for routine nasal COVID-19 tests, according to new reporting by the New York Times.
It is 30 times the test's typical cost.
The well-known Lower Manhattan hospital advertised its "COVID-19 Testing" on a large banner outside the hospital at 30 7th Avenue — but made no specifications about the cost.

The New York Times found that Lenox Hill arrived at the high cost by charging a larger than usual fee for the test itself, and then billing the visit as a "moderately complex" emergency room visit, a designation that ups the cost even more.
One family unknowingly accrued nearly $40,000 in charges for 12 tests that all were taken as requirements for returning to work or school, according to the Times.
