Greenwich Village Spot Named One Of Best Indian Eateries In NYC
Eater NY recently came out with its list of the 22 best Indian restaurants in New York City, and a Greenwich Village spot made the ranks.
GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY — Fantastic Indian restaurants have a long history in New York City, and an eatery in Greenwich Village just got named as one of the best options for the cuisine in the five boroughs.
On Tuesday, Eater NY came out with its list of "22 Stellar Indian Restaurants in NYC," which its authors described as a "city-wide selection of outstanding Indian restaurants serving the subcontinent's diverse cuisine."
Among the 22 Indian restaurants included was Biryani Kitchen, a popular Greenwich Village eatery at 48 Greenwich Avenue.

"The menu at this mainly carryout storefront concentrates on five regional biryanis in lavishly large portions, all accompanied by yogurt raita: chicken (from Mumbai), shrimp (from Goa), vegetarian (from Hyderabad), lamb (also from Hyderabad), and chicken (from Sindi), along with a small selection of side dishes like dal, pickled mango, and jarred condiments, along with some interesting beverages. Of the three biryanis I tried, all were exceptional, but my favorite was lamb."
Biryani Kitchen was one of three Indian restaurants below 14th Street in Manhattan to be included in the rankings — along with Veeray da Dhaba in the Ukrainian Village and Dhamaka on the Lower East Side.
