Greenwich Village ZIP Code Has 6th-Lowest COVID-19 Rate In NYC

LOWER MANHATTAN, NY — While coronavirus rates are rising across New York City, the positivity rate in one Greenwich Village ZIP code is the sixth lowest in all five boroughs.

The data, which shows COVID-19 testing results for every New York City ZIP code between Dec. 1 and Dec. 7, shows that the positivity rates in the three ZIP codes that make up Greenwich are among the lowest in the city.

Specifically, the 10012 ZIP code has a positivity rate of 1.46 percent, making it the sixth-lowest in New York City. Only three small ZIP codes in the Tribeca area and two on the Upper West Side and Upper East Side of Manhattan have lower rates in all of Manhattan.

Here is the coronavirus data for the three Greenwich Village ZIP codes:

10011: Chelsea/Greenwich Village — 2,816 people tested, 56 new cases, 1.99 percent

10012: Greenwich Village/Soho — 1,714 people tested, 25 new cases, 1.46 percent

10014: Hudson Square/Meatpacking District/West Village — 1,831 people tested, 28 new cases, 1.53 percent

The COVID-19 rates in the three ZIP codes have remained relatively steady in the past month.

Compared to the rates in the same ZIP codes from Nov. 14 to 20th, the 10011 ZIP code has risen from 1.4 percent to 1.99 percent, the 10012 ZIP code has risen from 0.87 percent to 1.46 percent, and the 10014 ZIP code has fallen from 2.5 percent to 1.53 percent.

Mayor Bill de Blasio announced on Thursday that the seven-day rolling coronavirus positivity average city-wide is now 5.32 percent. He also added that the hospitalization rate per 100,000 over the past seven days is 2.41.
