Here's How COVID Rates Changed In The West Vill Over Last Month
West Village ZIP codes have consistently had comparatively low COVID rates. But, how do the area's numbers in January compare to December.
WEST VILLAGE, NY — As the end of January comes around, COVID-19 rates in the West Village and surrounding Greenwich Village areas continue to remain disproportionately low compared to the rest of New York City.
However, much like the rest of the city, virus rates in the West Village have ticked up in the last month.
Greenwich Village's 10011 ZIP code has gone from a positive rate of under 2 percent to a rate of over 3 percent.

Patch decided to take a look at the data for the week of Jan. 18 to 24 and compare it to Dec. 12 to 18, to see just how much rates in the West Village and neighboring areas have gone up in the past month.
Here is the full breakdown for the West Village and surrounding Greenwich Village ZIP codes between Jan. 18 and 24th.

- 10011: Chelsea/Greenwich Village — 2,728 people tested, 87 new cases, 3.19 percent
- 10012: Greenwich Village/Soho — 1,800 people tested, 57 new cases, 3.17 percent
- 10014: West Village — 1,765 people tested, 45 new cases, 2.55 percent
Here is the same breakdown for the three ZIP codes, but this time between Dec. 12 and 18th.
- 10011: Chelsea/Greenwich Village — 2,694 people tested, 52 new cases, 1.93 percent
- 10012: Greenwich Village/Soho — 1,600 people tested, 35 new cases, 2.19 percent
- 10014: West Village — 1,962 people tested, 37 new cases, 1.89 percent
The positivity rate in all three ZIP codes has gone up over the past month.
The overall percent positive average in the West Village and Greenwich Village has gone from 2 percent during the week of Dec. 12, to 2.97 percent. The biggest neighborhood jump in positivity rate was seen in the 10011 ZIP code, which saw its rate go from 1.93 percent to 3.19 percent.
