Joe Biden Makes A Stop At Stonewall Inn

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden made an unannounced stop at Stonewall Inn Tuesday.

WEST VILLAGE, NY — Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden reportedly stopped by Stonewall Inn Tuesday, according to social media posts from reporters and other people at the bar.

The former vice-president reportedly stopped by the historic West Village gay bar Tuesday after his second fundraiser of the day, a campaign aide for Biden confirmed to MSNBC.

The unannounced visit comes as New York City celebrates WorldPride on the 50th anniversary of Stonewall riots, which was a critical moment in the LGBT rights movement and LGBT history in New York City.

In 2012, then-Vice President Biden said in an NBC Meet the Press interview he is "absolutely comfortable with the fact that men marrying men, women marrying women and heterosexual men and women marrying one another are entitle to the same exact rights, all the civil rights, all the civil liberties." The remarks were made before the Obama administration had formally endorsed same-sex marriage, the New York Times reported at the time.
