Man, 65, Jumps to Death From West Village Building, Police Say
The NYPD said a man died after jumping from a window and landing on Washington Street Saturday night.
WEST VILLAGE, NY — A 65-year-old man died after jumping from a window at The Archive apartment building on Saturday night, police said.
Police said witnesses saw the man jump just after 7 p.m. on Saturday and he was pronounced dead on the scene. The man landed on Washington Street after jumping from the 10-story Archive — a landmarked building in the West Village at 666 Greenwich St.
The name of the man has not been released.

The Archive, formerly known as the Federal Office Building, was built in 1899 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. The National Archives and Records Administration was housed in the building, and gave the current apartments its name. The building was converted to 479 residences in 1988, and costs $7,000-plus per month to rent a studio.
