Massive Harry Potter Store Opens In Flatiron: See Inside It

FLATIRON, NY — Harry Potter New York opened its new flagship store in the Flatiron District on Thursday and eager fans waited for hours in the rain to get through long lines and into the magical emporium.

At one point, the store had to start turning people away from the three-story, 21,000 square-foot-space that is now the largest collection of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts merchandise under one roof in the entire world.

The Harry Potter New York flagship has 15 different themed areas, each one uniquely presented to bring an element of the wizarding world to life. Customers entered the store by passing under a huge model of Fawkes the Phoenix, which is Albus Dumbledore's animal companion.

Fans on Thursday were able to browse for wands, explore Dumbledores office, take virtual reality trips into Hogwarts Castle, and pose for pictures inside a London phone box for a photo as if transporting into the Ministry of Magic.

Some of the props featured in the store are ones actually used in the movies.
