Mexico City Restaurant Nicos Will Open In SoHo For 3 Days
Mexico City restaurant Nicos will open a three-day pop-up in SoHo next month.

SOHO, NY — A famous Mexico City-based restaurant is coming to SoHo for three days only, restaurant recommendation website The Infatuation announced.
Nicos, located in Mexico City, will open the pop-up restaurant Nov. 1-3 at 163 Mercer St., just south of Houston Street, in collaboration with The Infatuation.
Nicos' head chef Gerardo Vásquez Lugo has crafted a menu of lamb barbacoa, yucatan poached mortuleño eggs, among other plates.

"We're honored to bring Nicos to New York City and recreate some of our favorite Mexican dishes alongside specialty Tequila Don Julio cocktails," Vásquez Lugo said in a statement.
The restaurant, founded in 1957, was once described by Eater as "formal but not fancy, busy but not crowded, and pays tribute to the ingredients and recipes of both modern and ancient Mexico in a way that is respectful yet not at all precious."

Vásquez Lugo took over Nicos from his parents in 1996 and has carried on the legacy since. He's now bringing that legacy to New York City in celebration of DÃa de los Muertos, "a meaningful and authentic part of our culture," he said.
The pop-up will launch Nov. 1 for one weekend only.
Mexican artist Claudio Limon has painted a mural on the outside of the building for the pop-up. The artist's works will also be on display inside.
Six restaurant reservations time slots are available online. Tickets are $75 and include a three course meal with cocktails.
The pop-up is open to the public noon to 4 p.m. Nov. 1-2 for drinks, art, and freebies.
