Nordstrom To Open Online Pick-Ups, Tailoring Hub In The W Village

WEST VILLAGE, NY — Nordstrom is opening up a "service hub" in the West Village this fall.

The retail store will open the hub, called Nordstrom Local, at 13 Seventh Ave. between West 11th and West 12th streets this fall at The Greenwich Lane, as well as a new digs in the Upper East Side.

The Nordstrom Local hubs will differ from the company's large-scale Nordstrom stores — and instead offer online order pick-up services, alterations, tailoring, styling and other services for customers.

"The expansion of our local market strategy in New York City is a cornerstone of how we will improve service to our customers," Jamie Nordstrom, president of stores, said in a statement. "NYC represents our largest online market and we know when we open physical stores it complements our online presence and increases sales."

The "local market" strategy launched in Los Angeles last year.

The company says about one-third of all next day pick-ups are done at the three existing Nordstrom Local locations.

The West Village Nordstrom Local will be about 2,400 square feet at The Greenwich Lane, developed in a partnership between the owner, Rudin Family, and Eyal Ofer's Global Holdings Group.

The Greenwich Lane will also open a 3,100-square-foot space for a veterinary start-up, Small Door, and a to-be-named national retailer for about 3,500 square feet of space, The Rudin Family announced.
