NYPD Connects 2 Knife Point Robberies In Lower Manhattan

One of the attempted robberies took place in the staircase of the Bleecker Street 6 train subway station, according to police.

LOWER MANHATTAN, NY — Police have connected a man to a pair of robberies involving a knife in Lower Manhattan on the same day in February, according to the NYPD.

Police said the two robberies took place within five minutes of each other on Sunday, Feb. 28.

The robber first approached a 51-year-old man at 9:20 p.m. in front of 584 Broadway, near Prince Street, before displaying a knife and demanding the victim's property, according to police.

The 51-year-old handed over his stuff, and the robber fled, police said.

Five minutes later, at 9:25 p.m., a 21-year-old man was walking down the Bleecker Street 6 train station's staircase, when a robber approached him, showed him a knife, and demanded his things, according to police.

The victim tried to fight off the robber and ended up getting cut on the hand, before the unidentified criminal ran off, according to police. The 21-year-old was able to avoid losing any of his things, police added.

The two attempted robberies took place a three-minute walk from one another, according to Google Maps.

Police released a photo Monday of a man wanted in connection to the robberies.
