NYU Students Plan Walk-Out Wednesday to Show Support for Campus Immigrants
The university activists say they're "committing to putting our bodies between Trump and our most vulnerable students."

WEST VILLAGE, NY — Students at New York University (NYU) are planning to walk out of their classes at noon Wednesday and meet in Washington Square Park, where they'll demonstrate in support of immigrants on campus and other communities living in fear after Donald Trump was elected president last week.
In this way, walk-out organizers wrote on Facebook, participants will be "committing to putting [their] bodies between Trump and our most vulnerable students."
NYU is one of around 45 universities across the U.S. participating in the #SanctuaryCampus campaign, organized by Movimiento Cosecha.

The Facebook event page for NYU's walk-out instructs attendees to meet under Washington Park's iconic archway at Fifth Avenue and Waverly Place. "Bring your signs, your loved ones, and your spirit," it says.
And on Movimiento Cosecha's home page for the greater movement, organizers say: "All students must unite to protect our most vulnerable people — including undocumented immigrants, Black people, Muslims, Queer people, and all people of color. Join the movement of students declaring their campuses sanctuary campuses and committing to put our bodies between the Trump administration and our undocumented students."
