Robberies In W Village, Turtle Bay Connected To 1 Man: Cops
One man has been linked to five robberies in the West Village and Turtle Bay, police said.
WEST VILLAGE, NY — The New York Police Department has connected five different robberies since last September to one man, the department said.
Four instances have happened in the West Village, while a fifth occurred in Turtle Bay, according to the NYPD.
Hundreds of dollars in property have been stolen at various locations, most recently Saturday, April 13 about 3 p.m., police said. The man police are searching for entered an apartment in a building near West Third Street and Sixth Avenue, police said. He was caught by surveillance cameras inside the apartment looking through coat pockets, and took one coat and a set of keys, according to the NYPD.

Police say the pattern began Sept. 17 last year when the man walked into Marie Blachere Bakery at 301 Sixth Ave. at Carmine Street through an unlocked service entrance about 2:45 p.m. He took a laptop, laptop bag, check books and three credits cards worth about $440, police said.
Nov. 16 about 3:40 p.m., the man stole a tablet worth about $500 from a restaurant at 245 E. 44th St., police said.

Dec. 7 about 1 p.m., he took a $2,500 laptop from a bar at 189 W. 10th St., police said.
Dec. 29 about 3 p.m., he stole another tablet from a restaurant worth about $800, police said.
The man is described as 50- to 60-years-old and has been observed with sunglasses over his forehead in surveillance footage, police said.
