Sabra To Open A Hummus Pop-Up Restaurant In The West Village
Hummus is not just a dip, according to Sabra, which will open a six-week pop-up in the West Village Friday.
WEST VILLAGE, NY — The popular hummus dip brand Sabra wants to convince you hummus is not just a dip, so the company is opening a six-week pop-up restaurant in the West Village.
Sabra will open the pop-up at Kish-Kash at Hudson and Barrow streets, serving a variety of menu items inspired by the Mediterranean dish, beginning Friday.
"Hummus is Mediterranean in origin, yet we believe food has a transcending ability to connect us, which is the idea behind this pop-up experience," said Sabra's chief marking officer Jason Levine.

The pop-up — dubbed Whirled Peas — will bring five different chefs to work with Kish-Kash top chef Einat Admony for a rotating menu over the coming weeks.
"From hummus with tacos to tahini and Thai Pho, delicious things can happen when we connect in the kitchen. We think you’ll want to try this at home," Levine said of Sabra's new venture, Whirled Peas, which AdAge first reported on.

Guest chefs include: Wes Avila of Los Angeles, Esther Choi of New York City, Kwame Onwuachi of Washington D.C., Jet Tila of Los Angeles and Deborah VanTrece of Georgia. The menu will rotate between chefs.
The first menu collaboration between Admony and Choi will feature cauliflower, regular hummus dip, hummus pancakes, rice cake gnocchi, a Korean BBQ ribeye hummus bowl, hand rolled couscous with roasted kabocha squash, Moroccan spicy fish, tahini cookies, and a chocolate dish with hazelnut crust and Turkish coffee.
The pop-up experience will be located at 455 Hudson St. from Oct. 11 to Nov. 24.
