WEST VILLAGE, NY — A San Francisco-based champagne bar is moving to New York City.

The Riddler, founded by Jen Pelka, is opening a champagne bar at West Fourth and Bank streets in September.

"We're looking to create a place that is both a neighborhood hangout and a wine-lover's destination," Pelka said in a statement.

Soon after opening the first location in San Francisco, Pelka began looking for a location in New York.

She searched for more than a year before coming across a window-lined space at her favorite corner in the West Village, she said.

The new bar, at 51 Bank St., will feature over 100 champagnes by the bottle. Various sparkling and still wines are also available. The wine bar still serves just one beer — Miller High Life, often called the "champagne of beers." The food menu includes a raw bar, French classics and The Riddler's signature tater tot waffles.

Nearby popular Village eateries include The Beatrice Inn, The Waverly Inn and Fedora.

The Riddler, which has a motto of "Hello, Old Friend," is fully funded by women investors — a highlight for Pelka.

"I am so grateful to have an incredible community of investors who have helped me to create a truly special place at my favorite corner of the West Village," said Pelka. "We have a shared vision to spread the love of Champagne far and wide and to create the best Champagne bar in the country."
