The annual lighting of the 45-foot tree will take place at 6 p.m. under the arch at Washington Square Park, and a series of kid-friendly activities are slated for the evening. Santa Claus is expected to make his annual appearance and the Rob Susman Brass Quartet will sing holiday songs with children and grown-ups, according to the event page. Songbooks will be provided for free so that attendees can follow along.
