Ta-Nehisi Coates To Teach Journalism at NYU

Atlantic writer Ta-Nehisi Coates will join NYU's journalism faculty in September 2017, the school announced this week.

GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY — Ta-Nehisi Coates is joining New York University's journalism faculty, the school announced this week.

The Atlantic writer and winner of the MacArthur "genius" grant will begin a three-year position at the school in September 2017. He will join the school's journalism institute as a distinguished writer in residence, the school said, and will teach both undergraduate and graduate students. He'll also participate in school events and conversations.

Coates is the author of two books and currently works as a national correspondent for the Atlantic. His most recent book, Between the World and Me, was awarded the National Book Award in the nonfiction category in 2015.
