Thief Connected To 3rd Bank Robbery In Manhattan, Police Say

WEST VILLAGE, NY — Cops are searching for a man believed to have robbed three banks in Manhattan, according to the NYPD.

A string of robberies beginning Nov. 30 last year have been tied to the same man — who robbed another bank in the West Village Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

Wednesday about 2:40 p.m., the reported repeat robber walked into Capital One Bank at 347 Sixth Ave. at West 4th St., police said.

He gave a note to the teller demanding cash, and he fled with $300, according to police.

He is described as 50- to 60-years-old, 5-foot 6 and 160 pounds and was last seen with a brown hat, black jacket, glasses and dark-colored pants and shoes, police said.

In the first incident, the man walked into HSBC bank at 769 Broadway between East 8th and 9th Sts. on Nov. 30 about 10 a.m. demanding money from the bank teller, police said. The teller gave the man an undetermined amount of money, and he left the bank southbound on Broadway, according to police.

On Dec. 17 about 10 a.m., the man walked into an Upper West Side Chase Bank at 2099 Broadway between West 72nd and 73rd Sts. and was able to steal $1,700 from the bank, police said.
