Thief Snatches Backpacks From Cellars At Manhattan Eateries: NYPD

Cops are looking for a thief who stole backpacks from cellars at NoHo and Midtown restaurants, the NYPD said.

MANHATTAN, NY — A thief snatched up backpacks inside two Manhattan restaurant's cellars in the past few months, according to the NYPD.

The repeat robber was first seen on video Aug. 25 about 6:30 p.m. taking two backpacks full of personal belongings after entering through an open cellar door at the Italian restaurant Nittis on Ninth Avenue at West 39th Street, according to the police.

Police said the same man walked into seafood and cocktail bar ZZ's Clam Bar at Thompson and Houston streets in NoHo where he stole an employee's backpack about 1 a.m. on Sept. 26.

Surveillance footage of the thief shows from the Midtown restaurant shows him with yellow pants and a white long-sleeve shirt, with a blue cap and black backpack.

He's also carrying a big white shopping bag, the video released by the NYPD shows.
