West Village English Eatery Is Among NYC's 'Most Anticipated'

An English fish and chips joint was named on a list of Eater NY's "most anticipated restaurants' set to open this spring.

WEST VILLAGE, NY — A new fish and chips restaurant heading to the West Village this spring is among the "most anticipated restaurants" set to open across New York City in 2021, according to Eater NY.

Food experts from the publication put together a list of the 10 most exciting restaurant openings for winter and spring of this year across the five boroughs.

Among them is Dame, an English fish and chips spot that is turning a successful summer pop up into a full-time West Village restaurant.

Other Manhattan spots included on the list were an incoming restaurant in Greenwich Village, a fine-dining spot in Tribeca, a chef Daniel Boulud seafood spot in Midtown, and a taco shack on the Upper West Side.

Here's what the foodies at Eater had to say about Dame:

"Following a successful run in 2020 as a summertime English pop-up, Dame will return in the spring as a full-service seafood restaurant in the West Village. Chef Ed Szymanski, the former executive chef at critically-praised Greenpoint restaurant Cherry Point, likens the forthcoming spot to Le Bernardin without the tablecloths and formal service. Expect grilled oysters, a variety of crudos, and signature English dishes including a upleveled rendition of fish and chips that attracted its own fanbase at the neighborhood pop-up. For now, diners can find Dame’s fish and chips on Fridays and Saturdays at the old pop-up space, at 85 MacDougal Street, where it is currently operating as a grocery store through the winter."
