West Village's Bookbook Will Close After 35 Years This Weekend
After 35 years in the neighborhood, this West Village bookstore will close its brick-and-mortar shop this weekend.

WEST VILLAGE, NY — After 35 years in the neighborhood, bookbook's last day will be Sunday, the shop owners said Tuesday afternoon.
The last day is set for May 19 as the owners of bookbook, located at 266 Bleecker St. between Cornelia and Morton streets, are transitioning to a pop-up style book shop, selling books at Abingdon Sq. Farmers Market and a pickle stand on Carmine St. between Sixth Ave. and Bleecker St.
"We've been touched as customers new and old have shown their support and shard how much bookbook has meant to them," owners Carolyn and Chuck Epstein wrote.

A closing party is slated May 23 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the shop with refreshments and music from Gary Lucas at 8:30 p.m.
After more than three decades of work, Carolyn Epstein previously told Patch she's ready to have more free time in the future.

"I'm sure I'll miss it," she said. "We have great customers. Just not having that kind of responsibility is working very good for me."
The bookstore first opened in 1984 under the moniker Biography Bookshop at 400 Bleecker St., which is now a a Marc Jacobs shop that includes books dedicate to fashion and art dubbed "Bookmarc."A decade ago the shop relocated and rebranded under the same owners as bookbook at 266 Bleecker St.
The pop-up style future of bookbook will be announced on social media and the store's email list, which the public can sign for here.
