Country Singer Comes to West Islip Block Party Thanks to NASH FM
A West Islip resident won a radio contest that will bring up-and-coming country singer Erika Grace Powell to her block party
Stacey Holder, an avid listener of 94.7 NASH FM’s America’s Morning Show, was thrilled when she was told, on air, that she’d won their “Summer of the Star-Spangled Banner” contest for her neighborhood in West Islip.
“I was screaming,” she said. “I was very, very, very excited. Some of my neighbors knew that I’d entered and that I was a finalist and I called them and they were absolutely thrilled.”
At 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, NASH FM will bring up-and-coming country singer and former Miss South Carolina, Erika Grace Powell to Stacey’s block on Pease Lane to sing the national anthem and to enjoy the neighborhood’s biennial block party.

“I heard about the contest on the radio, where they asked ‘Do you love country music and do you love your country?’” said Stacey. “I live on an all-American type of block where there are a lot of veterans and we consider ourselves to be patriotic so I thought this was right up our alley.”
Stacey entered the contest online about a month ago and advanced to the finalist stage, where she was interviewed on the radio and told on air that she’d won. This will be the fifth block party Pease Lane has had since 2001 when Stacey first started organizing them.

The block party will offer attractions for all ages, including demonstrations by the local fire department, a giant water slide, a balloon artist, a DJ, games, an ice luge and more. The block will be closed off and neighbors will be putting out their own food, but anyone is welcome.
