Couple Wanted For Stealing Pythons From West Islip Pet Shop
The man and woman took the two baby ball pythons from the business last week, according to a pet shop.

WEST ISLIP, NY — A local couple is wanted for stealing two pythons from a West Islip exotic pet shop last week.
BTJ's Jungle Pet Shop on 144 Sunrise Highway posted on its Facebook page that two baby ball pythons were stolen from the store Friday between 11:45 a.m. to noon. Suffolk police confirmed the incident.

Store owner Thomas Niehoff told Newsday that the theft occurred while a staff member was cleaning the cages. According to the report, the employee was distracted by the woman while the man grabbed the snakes from the unlocked cage and put them in his coat pocket and the woman's purse.
The snakes can be worth up to $800 each.
