I can not thank you enough for your support on Election Day and the trust you have placed in me to be your representative in Albany. It is both inspiring and humbling and I look forward to working with both sides of the aisle to deliver for every resident in our district. I also thank my opponent for running a spirited campaign. My door will always be open to her to share ideas and address mutual concerns. Most of all, thank you to everyone who worked so hard to secure a big victory for our campaign. I promise, I won't let you down.
However, the race is not over yet as the absentee ballots still have to be counted. The Suffolk County Board of Elections told Patch that the ballots will most likely not be counted until Monday.
For the 9th district, a total of 9,476 absentee ballots were requested and 9,393 of those were sent in. Out of those ballots sent in, 3,893 were Democrat and 2,570 were Republican.
