Good Samaritan To Unveil New $14M Pediatric Emergency Department
The new 6,500-square-foot enhancement of the current emergency room will help to cater to the estimated 22,000 pediatric emergency patients.

WEST ISLIP, NY — Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip will be unveiling its new $14 million pediatric emergency department this week. The ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the new unit will take place Wednesday starting at 10:30 a.m. outside the hospital on 1000 Montauk Highway.
The event will be held in an open air tent, at the pediatric emergency department, which is located at the back of the hospital, adjacent to Baxter Pavilion.
The 6,500-square-foot enhancement to the current emergency department will feature 12 treatment bays, two of which are isolation rooms, as well as a waiting room specific to pediatric patients and their families.

The new pediatric emergency department will be the first and only ACS-certified Level II pediatric trauma center on the south shore of Long Island. The hospital serves about 22,000 pediatric patients which visit its emergency department each year.
