Governor Approves Property Tax Moratorium until March 12,2021

Suffolk County needs to be more vocal in our request for Moratorium Property Tax Relief EO Parameters include Suffolk County-what can you do

Suffolk County Property Taxes are due 2x a year; January 12th and May 31st. Moratorium Property Tax Relief Programs have included Retail, Commercial Landlord and Large Residential Landlords-but has once again Exempted Primary Small Home-owners from moratorium property tax relief payment programs.

Two Taxing Installments flew by-but Executive Order's of State of Emergency are still in effect-requiring less earners physically-leading to reductions in the workforce and strong anti social gathering rules putting Small Property Owners at risks of present or future foreclosures. Those of us who own 1-4 family homes-we are the class of Property Owner's that the Governor and Local Taxing Authorities have ignored and continue to Exempt from all relief programs in Suffolk County. Nassau County-just received relief until March 12, 2021.

Those Primary Homeowners who were not able to make timely Property Tax Payments-are still held accountable for interest and penalties and there has been no creation of installment payment programs without assessing interest and penalties E.O. protections by Governor Cuomo. Nassau County just received relief extended time frames until March 12, 2021. Why was Suffolk County not been included when we are the County that has the bulk of One-four Family homeownership on Long Island. State of Emergency Orders in Suffolk County still require social distancing-and limited work requirements-so many are not back full time to work on Suffolk County-leading to potentially more economically strapped Homeowners. As the Past 2 Property Tax Payments in 2020 did not grant any Primary Homeowner Property Tax relief or issue moratorium rules-perhaps the Governor and your Town Supervisors need to be more pro-active in pleading our Financial situation to the Governor-NOW!
