BREAKING: The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Long Island as thunderstorms approach.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Long Island as thunderstorms threaten the first half of the weekend.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms will increase overnight and into Saturday as a cold front slowly passes through the Tri-State region. After the frontal passage on Saturday, the area will dry out with fair weather then lasting through the remainder of the weekend, the NWS says.

Friday Night- A slight chance of showers between 2am and 4am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. South wind 7 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Saturday- Showers and thunderstorms likely before 3pm, then a chance of showers. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 83. South wind 8 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Saturday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 61. Northwest wind 10 to 14 mph.
Sunday- Sunny, with a high near 79. Northwest wind 9 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph.
Sunday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 67. Southwest wind 5 to 8 mph.
Monday- Showers likely, mainly after 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 77. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Tuesday- Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78.
