Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For Long Island
Some nasty weather is on the way. See when to expect the worst of it.
LONG ISLAND, NY — Showers and thunderstorms are likely ahead of an approaching cold front Thursday afternoon into the early evening on Long Island, the National Weather Service says.
A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for the region.
"A few of these storms could produce heavy rain capable of minor nuisance flooding and gusty winds approaching severe limits," the outlook says.

The greatest chance of thunderstorms on the island is between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., according to the hour-by-hour forecast.

Thursday- Showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. High near 77. South wind around 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Thursday Night- A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 9pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 64. Southwest wind 5 to 11 mph becoming northwest after midnight.
Friday- Sunny, with a high near 83. North wind 5 to 7 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon.
Friday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 61. South wind 5 to 8 mph becoming calm after midnight.
Saturday- A 20 percent chance of showers after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 77. North wind 3 to 6 mph.
Saturday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 60.
Sunday- A 30 percent chance of showers after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 74.
Sunday Night- A 40 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 60.
Monday- A 30 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 74.
Monday Night- Mostly cloudy, with a low around 61.
