Informational Webinar On Masera Sale To Be Held Next Week

WEST ISLIP, NY — The West Islip School District will be hosting an information webinar next week to discuss the Masera property sale before the vote later this month.

The webinar will be held on Monday, Jan. 11 starting at 6:30 p.m.

During the webinar, officials will discuss the referendum to sell the 11-acre property, located on the west side of Udall Road north of Sunrise Highway, that previously housed Paumanok Elementary School.

In September, the board of education reached an agreement with Terwilliger & Bartone Properties LLC to create a new 55-and-over luxury development.

According to the school district, the total purchase price for the property is $8,545,455 plus a charitable contribution of $1 million to be made for the purpose of replacing and/or improving the district's athletic fields.

However before the sale of the property can be finalized, it requires approval from the community through a vote which will take place on Jan. 19.
