Italian Restaurant Newest Tenant In Old Dzus Factory Site Center
The retail development on Union Blvd. received final approval from the town and construction will start soon on the former Superfund site.

WEST ISLIP, NY— Almost two years after Island Associates acquired the four-acre site of former manufacturer Dzus Fastener Company at 425 Union Bldv., construction on a new retail complex is set to begin.
Christopher Mayor, an associate at Island Associates, confirmed to Patch that the retail project is now fully leased and received a final approval from Islip Town this week. Construction should be starting in the next couple of months, he said.
An Italian restaurant called Piazzetta Italian Kitchen & Bar is the latest tenant to sign on. The restaurant will take up 3K square feet of the over 19K square-foot retail center. This is the fifth location of the restaurant chain.

Long Island Business News reported in 2020 that Brownstones Coffee also signed a lease at 425 Union for a 4,554 square foot standalone building. A QuickChek market is also slated to be part of the center.
Roger Delisle and Island Associates reportedly paid $2.45 million for the site, which had to be remediated by the owners of the shuttered Dzus factory that occupied the location since the 1930s. Hurricane Sandy delayed the remediation, which included a cleanup of nearby Willetts Creek.
