LI Bob's Stores To Close After Parent Company Declares Bankruptcy

The company declared bankruptcy in February.

Three Bob's Stores and one Eastern Mountain Sports store on Long Island will be closing down after the parent company of both stores declared bankruptcy, according to documents from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware.

The Bob's Stores, which sells clothing and footwear, that will be shut down are located on:

  • 3083 Jericho Turnpike in East Northport
  • 135-187 Sunrise Highway in West Islip
  • 71 Middle Country Road in Selden

The sporting goods store Eastern Mountain Sports will also be shutting down its only Long Island location:

  • 204 Glen Cove Road in Carle Place

One Bob's Store on Long Island will remain in Patchogue.

Eastern Outfitters LLC, the corporate parent of the two chains, declared bankruptcy in February and will be acquired by an affiliate of Sports Direct International PLC, based in the U.K.

In total the company will be shutting down 48 out of 86 stores in Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.
