LI Family Takes Over West Islip Best Market
The grocery store was slated to be taken over by Lidl, but instead was purchased by a local family who had different plans for the business.

WEST ISLIP, NY — The West Islip Best Market grocery store, which was slated to be taken over by Lidl, is now a family-owned business.
In 2019, the German supermarket announced its plans to take over all 24 Long Island locations for Best Market, in addition to adding new stores.
However last month, the Best Market on 9 Udall Road didn't become a Lidl, but instead was transformed to Best Farms.

The supermarket was purchased by Long Island resident Beatriz Fraschilla and sons, Richard Jr., Michael and Patrick, as a second location to their Best Farms in Hicksville, according to a Newsday report.
The family kept about half of the Best Market employees and plans to renovate the West Islip space, Newsday reports.
