LI Man Reported Missing Found Dead In Truck: PD

The 45-year-old was reported missing earlier this month. A passerby found his truck in a ravine on Thursday.

WEST ISLIP, NY - A Centereach man who was reported missing earlier this month was found dead in his car in West Islip on Thursday, according to Suffolk Police.

Thomas Kelsey, was last seen leaving Venetian Shores Park on 850 Venetian Boulevard on July 7 at 10 p.m. driving his red 2015 GMC Yukon.

He was reported missing by an acquaintance on July 9.

On Thursday, passerby saw his truck in a ravine off Route 231 and called 911 at 8:30 p.m.

Detectives believe Kelsey was driving his 2015 GMC Yukon northbound on Route 231 in North Babylon when the truck left the roadway, crossed a large grass median and crashed into a ravine in West Islip.

Kelsey was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The cause of death is believed to be non-criminal.
